Unlike a DIP pogo pin with a long through-hole terminal, this model uses a compact surface-mount structure. The base sits on the PCB contact area while the spring-loaded plunger provides the required movement on the mating side.

The Ø1.20 mm plunger provides the active contact surface. The lower body has a Ø1.90 mm base, which should be considered when designing the PCB pad and surrounding clearance.

PCB pad dimensions and assembly position should follow the approved engineering drawing. The nominal 3.3 mm height alone is not enough to define the complete mounting layout.


0.50mm working stroke and 60g contact force

The recommended working stroke for RG-1002-12 is 0.50 mm.

At this compression position, the spring force is 60g±20g. The full mechanical stroke is 0.60 mm.

In normal product design, the mating component should compress the pogo pin around its specified working stroke rather than continuously holding it at full compression.

Using the correct compression position gives the plunger enough movement to compensate for small assembly tolerances while keeping the spring force within the intended operating range.

For equipment running continuously near the 1A rating, the complete assembly should be checked under the actual load and thermal conditions.

Using terms such as contact impedance on one part of the page and contact resistance elsewhere should be avoided.


10,000-cycle mechanical life

The RG-1002-12 engineering drawing specifies a life test of 10,000 cycles.

This value should be used consistently across the product title, specification table, product description and structured data.

The previous 100,000-cycle statement should be removed because it does not match the current engineering drawing.

Mechanical life in the finished device can also depend on the actual compression depth, mating alignment, environmental conditions and cleanliness of the contact surface.

If a project requires a higher cycle life, it should be evaluated as a separate design requirement rather than changing the standard RG-1002-12 specification.


Operating temperature and salt spray performance

RG-1002-12 is specified for an operating temperature of -25°C to +60°C.

The product drawing also specifies a 48-hour salt spray test.
