How to choose the plating layer?
Gold plating: Gold plating can
improve conductivity, significantly reduce contact resistance, ensure
stable transmission of large current and high-speed signals, and reduce
signal attenuation. It is also resistant to oxidation and corrosion.
Gold has almost no chemical reaction in a humid and dusty environment,
and can keep the contacts clean for a long time to avoid poor contact
due to oxidation, but the cost is relatively high.
Nickel plating: It is relatively expensive and is a silver-white metal, but it has poor conductivity, hard texture, and smooth surface. It is often used as the base plating for gold plating. It has poor weldability. Most steel contacts are nickel-plated, but they must be copper-plated first. Copper nickel plating can withstand temperatures of 340 degrees, while brass and bronze can reach 250 degrees.
Silver plating: glossy white, precious metal, soft, good conductivity, easy to oxidize, so it is easy to lose its luster. Brass or bronze tin plating can withstand temperatures of 110 degrees, and copper can withstand temperatures of 250 degrees.
